The resolution on this screen is excellent. Light years better than my previous analog setup. There are a few disadvantages: this only works with their cameras, the image on the rear camera can't be flipped, and the rear camera is the only one that's waterproof. The other 2 cameras have to be installed inside the car. I insist that my camera be installed on the roof so I 3d printed a case to hold the camera as if it's bottom mounted, but it's bulky and doesn't look very good. The nice thing is Pormido is very responsive to email and they have excellent customer service. They replaced my long rear extension cord after I damaged mine, and they told me their 2 camera system has the ability to flip the rear screen so I can put the rear camera on the roof and invert the image on the screen. So I plan to buy the 2 camera system so I can get rid of the bulky enclosure I made.
Love the big display and 24 hour recording. Was able to use video for an accident claim
I have several vehicles with several dash cams like this, including several wolf box units, and they are all very gimmick and constantly have glitches and issues the wolf box being the worst because it constantly restarting or every other hour if driving for a long period of time, it starts to reboot or turns off or sometimes doesnt even turn on even though its hardwired. This Pormido unit is extremely reliable, never had an issue, I cant really speak on the quality of the video because I never had to remove any of it to view on a large screen, but on this screen, it looks amazing. Nice crisp.
This is my second Pormido dashcam. I bought the first one in 2023, model PR996K with 4K front camera. It also has a small notch on the top to hide all the ugly wires coming out of the unit. It has served me well with no problem for the last two years. But they don't make the PR996K anymore. I have researched many brands and models, and couldn't find anything with a design similar to hide those wires. (By the way, every dashcam product photo on Amazon shows their product without the wires on top. They all look good on the photos until you see all the wires protruding on the top after installation.) So I opted for this model PR998, which has a single USB-C cable for the front camera, rear camera, GPS, and power cable. Installation is pretty straightforward. The USB-C cable comes with a four-way splitter where you plug in the respective cameras, power supply and GPS. The splitter is a bit bulky and won't fit inside the A pillar. I wrapped the cable around and hid the splitter behind the rear view mirror instead (see photo).
The unit comes with a 32G memory card. I bought my own 128G memory card to increase the storage capacity. The LCD screen is very responsive. You can toggle between the front and rear cameras and zoom in with two fingers. Unlike the previous model P996K, this model P998 has a detached front camera you can place anywhere on the windshield. I initially put it on the left side of the rear view mirror. I found out afterwards that the front camera has a fixed orientation, and unlike the rear mirror, which can be flipped vertically in the control. Not a big problem; I just have to move the front camera to the right side of the mirror instead.
The only issue I have is with the camera's resolution. The front camera has a capture resolution of 1296p, according to the spec. The rear camera is 1080p. However, the recorded file can only store up to 1080 for either camera. The video image is clear enough in most cases. But if you are looking for higher resolution video capture, this may not be the unit for you.
NOTE: I contacted customer service with some questions. They did reply rather quickly. They are based in Hong Kong so replying may be delayed if you are in the US.
I've owned three of these PORMIDO mirror cameras in my vehicles. One was a replacement as the original quit working after 2 years but I had bought a 3 year warranty... well worth it! Then the front camera in my other vehicle died around the 2 year mark and I didn't have a warranty for that one, but customer support was responsive and they gave me a reduced price on a new front camera. It does take effort to install and tuck the wires neatly, but no different than any other wired camera (I don't trust the wi-fi ones). I'd buy this product again as it's well made, the front camera is fully adjustable, and their customer support team went above and beyond to help me out. I do suggest getting the extended warranty though as cars are a brutal environment for electronics like this.

Parking monitoring
- Please connect with hardwire kit to car battery,you can purchase the most compatible hardwire kit(B08GQXF32D) from our store, other hardwire kit may not work perfectly with this detached camera system.
- With Hardwire kit connected, the camera can switch to Parking Monitoring automatically when engine is off, then lock an emergency video once it detects any collision/vibration during parking, set up G-sensor as 'HIGH' if you want the camera to be most sensitive in detection.
- Please turn ON 'Time Lapse' in the menu setting if you'd like to record all the time during parking.
Extension Cable
- The package comes with a 33ft Rear extension cable & 3.3ft Front cam cable, if it's not enough for you, we have another 49ft Rear cam cable(B08DXYCLL4), and 6.6ft Front cam cable (B08V15PX8M) selling in store separately.
GPS Antenna
- It's a plus to add driving speed, routines, compass directions to your recorded file for later proof, please reach us to get it if you need.
- If your computer cannot display full recorded information, please reach us to get more compatible player to playback the recorded files.

And the 6-glass lens in HDR technology can filter away the overexposure from other vehicle's headlights, so you can see plate number clearly in night vision for safe driving.
